In 1969 I was 13 years old my dad flew us all down to Miami to meet some of his good fella buddies that retired from New Jersey after that my grandfather Captain Tony flew us all down to Key West so he could finally meet his first grandchildren my sister and myself I remember his 65 Foot charter Party boat Also his wild night club he owned Captain Tony’s Saloon he had a heavy duty rock ‘n’ roll band beautiful bartenders with a little see through shirts on with no bras And Tennessee Williams monkeys screaming in these giant cages on the patio I was really amazed by all the people dancing to the music remember I was only 13, in 1976 I moved down to Key West from New Jersey has started working for the family I also became a photographer this was one of the frozen moments on the dance floor I captured in 1979 there’s over 1000 images on this site taking over a 90 year period Each image was either taken by my great uncle Sal my grandfather the captain and myself and every image ha
In 1927 my great uncle Sal was 16 years old he his teacher gave him his first camera for a birthday present Sal was already out of school since he was 14 but stayed friends with his art teacher Miss Wolf she was also my art teacher in 1963 Sal started taking pictures of parties back in the late 20s this image right here was some college party back in the mid-60s I am this category you’re on on has over 1000 images a lot of parties close to 90 years worth each image has a small story attached to it it’s a new concept I am working on,the birth of our book not only Sal’s images but his little brother The famous Captain Tony from Key West he took lots of great photos when he first arrived in Key West in the late 40s and then you have my photos I have been a published Photographer for over 42 years covering the evil wicked nightlife in New York, New Jersey, and Key West between All three of us we were on a mission enjoy this category It is far from finished

Key west has been celebrating sunset for over 50 years I know firsthand I was there in the late 60s and saw it firsthand when I eventually move there in the mid 70s I started taking sunset and sunrise pictures not from Mallory Square we’re all the tourists go there was a bunch of us locals that went to Simonton Street we had our wine, beer, and tequila or whatever drugs we were doing that night but what was different back in the 70s we would all meet at sunrise at White Street pier that’s where this photo is that I taken in 1979 even health Published after we all partied all night and the bars closed at four in the morning we would either go to a house party or jump in Michael Alexanders speed boat and go to San Chi Lisa and I did this many nights And then we would zip back for breakfast Key west the way it was
The year 1949 great uncle Sal is working for the World of Mirth a bizarre traveling carnival that travel down through Canada to Virginia and back sal was hired As the organ player for the girls in the burlesque show he also had a mask photography studio that traveled with them he did a lot of mind reading in there and hypnotizing people also did all the photos for that Company and their yearly Magazine they used Sal for many other things Sal was usually the negotiator when they came to a new town and had to pay off the sheriff to set up in a field somewhere Sal I was an amazing negotiator Anyway we all know Sal was a wild gay guy but he did venture off with different women now and then the girl in this picture Dorita she was the head burlesque girl she was the one who danced outside on stage and coaxed all the other men in the big tent in that tent you could actually see nude women and they probably invented the first lap dance in there from what my great uncle Sal told me late at ni
Through the late 80s and early 90s I ended up publishing over 1200 exotic dancers in three different magazines, New Jersey and New York had hundreds of strip clubs at a time and thousands of dancers from Brazil, Russia, and then the good old American girls there was only one magazine at a time actually three one in New Jersey one in New York and then their quarterly magazine that went to every club in America guess who landed the job Photographing all these clubs and dancers me we even opened up our own studio mentertainment Studios Besides the 1200 girls I published I am done over 200 nude and semi nude portfolios you’ll see a lot of those images on this site
There’s hundreds of some pretty wild family stories on this category actually over 1000 images with interesting funny stories attached to them this is one of my favorites The year 1941 that’s my dad and his father my grandfather the famous Key West Captain Tony But before all that Key West stuff The captain had a little boat with a motor on it he would take my father fishing late at night but never go fishing they would pick up stolen merchandise off the Newark docks, That’s right Captain Tony was a original New Jersey mob guy big-time, Elizabeth New Jersey was one of the biggest organize crime towns in New Jersey my great grandfather Luigi opened up a scrap metal company there in 1911 that’s when Sal was born never bought any metal never sold any metal but definitely spent a lot of time in Chicago what’s great about the stories that you will see everyone of them has photo back up everybody in the family was a Photographer we documented everything
